Branding
This concept design is for an exhibition in 'The Design Museum' London. I had to create merchandise, a logo, and a poster which focused on getting students to participate in the event. The exhibition was on 1960's art movement optical art made famous by Bridget Riley, Victor Vasarely, and Ludwig Wilding. The basis behind optical art is to use geometric abstract forms to create an optical illusion. Typically, they give the viewer the impression of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns, or swelling or warping.
For the logo design, I used this concept to create a 3D sphere squashed that was designed on illustrator. I then created an alternating black and white spiral pattern which creates the illusion of motion. I used the colour palette of black, white and pink. The black and white are most commonly used in famous optical artwork. Whereas the pink modernise the style of optical art, making the logo effective for a modern design museum for the younger target market.

The poster uses a simple 3D spherical ball, but with horizontal and vertical lines, this uses the eyes perception of depth to make the shape look as if it is vibrating. This poster also gives brief details of the event.
